HOW TO KNOW GOD

"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." (John 17:3, NASB)

The Bible teaches us that knowing God can only take place because God, our Creator, has chosen to reveal Himself to His creation. This is done according to God's eternal purpose and will for mankind.

God's will is that you and I would repent (have a change of mind) of our sin and turn toward God in faith- by believing and receiving God's ONLY provision of our eternal salvation.

God's provision is the person and work of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ declared: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6, NASB)

The following is the basic message of the Bible and what new life in Jesus Christ is all about.

All Are Sinners

No matter how good or moral anyone may be, God’s Word says that everyone falls short of God’s standards and requirements:

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23, NASB). We have ALL thought and done wrong things.

All Are Under The Penalty Of Sin

The final penalty of God for our sin is death- which is permanent separation from God and all that is good. Christ died to pay the penalty for sin. God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die in your place. As your substitute, He took your penalty upon Himself.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23, NASB)

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8, NASB)

Salvation Is A Free Gift

Forgiveness of all of our sins and eternal salvation is offered as a free gift.

Jesus Christ paid the penalty for ALL of our sins and purchased our salvation with His blood on the cross. He offers this salvation as a free gift. A gift is not earned, and it is not yours until you receive it. The gift of God is eternal life.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23, NASB)

A Savior (Jesus Christ) Must Be Received

If you are willing to repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ, then ASK Him to forgive you from sin and to give you eternal life.

"...if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." (Romans 10:9-10, NASB)

Pray to Receive Jesus Christ

Use this suggested prayer to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior: Dear God, I confess that I have sinned against you. Please forgive me for all of my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for me. Jesus Christ, thank you for your gift of forgiveness and eternal life. I receive you as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
